In Search of Utopia: Democracy and Corporate Governance
It was 5 March 2003 and I could feel the warm rays of the spring sun on my back. Six months into a study of corporate governance, I was standing on the steps of Fagor, a Mondragon co-operative, talking with Tim, Mikel, Harry and John 1 . Mikel, 30 years a teacher at Mondragon's management school, grew impatient. "This is not paradise," said Mikel. "It is necessary to be self-critical." His moment of... Emotion, Seduction and Intimacy: An Introduction
Life is an endless process of probing and searching for satisfying relationships for the purpose of economic and social gain. We constantly try to seduce each other for different reasons. Beyond seduction to satisfy our sexual desires, there are employers seducing employees (and vice versa), salespeople seducing customers, consultants seducing clients, advertisers seducing consumers, writers seducing... Mediating Sexual Conflict: How Do You Handle Disputes At Work?
For a person attempting to understand a conflict, the question that could start every investigation is "how is the accuser hurting?" or "why does the accuser feel a need to make an accusation?" It may be wise not to widen the scope of a dispute until the circumstances of the accusation are understood. To accuse, there must either be a moral principle at stake, an interest that has to be... Forever (A Love Poem)
Blind to our thoughts, we talked through the night And sensing the truth in our hearts We closed our eyes to the past, Opened doors to the present And, in allied terror, Walked through to face our dawn. On that day we learned the meaning of Fear. Blind to our words, we talked through the dawn, And seeing the truth in our minds We closed our eyes to the present, Opened doors to the past And, trembling with intimacy, Relinquished... Emotions at Work: What Are The Implications for Leadership?
In the academic literature on organisation theory, the seminal work on emotion (Fineman, 2000) produced a series of counter-intuitive findings. Emotion, while linked to expectations, is not associated with our individual goals and aspirations. Instead, it was found to link more strongly to our status within various social groups. In gathering stories about emotion at work, researchers found... (posted by Rory 3 years 322 days ago.)

Real Men and Gender Stereotyping: Grounding Love in Reality
A study of war-time behaviour (Ashworth, 1968) shows what real men are like. During World War 1, only 2% of men in the trenches shot to kill. Or, to put it another way, 98% of men shot to miss. Put a gun in a man's hand, give him total permission to maim and kill without retribution and 49 out of every 50 will turn down the chance even though they risk a court-martial for cowardice, and death...
